The God of Small Things

Fiveless at 19:39

The God of Small Things! This was a really good book. It starts out so innocently, with a slightly dark tone, but it once it gets on unfolding the mystery layer by layer, it seems that Roy can't be stopped. She really engages you until the end, when it gets really dark. It was awesome, and one of the best examples of Indina literature I've read in a while. Whoooo. Takes your breath away. Reading Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath now.
By the way, Intense City progress will be halted until further notice.

The Sea

Fiveless at 15:00

I've finished reading The Sea by John Banville. If you've been keeping up, it's this year's Booker Prize winner. It was an oddly disturbing experience, finishing the book. It's very tantalizing the way Banville writes - extremely detailed, unforgiving in his prose that makes it an adventure to read. Very moving, and dare I say, shocking. It tells Max Morden's tale of loss, rememberance and reconciliation in a evocative, quietly reflective but entirely absorbing way.

notpr0n

Fiveless at 22:19

Notpr0n: Since the holidays started, I've done level 38 - 56 of notpr0n. That's quite an achievement. If you don't play notpr0n, you should, it keeps you quite busy for an inordinate amount of time. Much lateral thinking, and much much patience required. Have fun.

Fiveless at 22:17

Nothing much, a holiday blog so as not to clutter up fiveless. Probably be posting some stuff I've been doing during the holidays. From my post on fiveless on the 31st of October, here's a list of frivolities that I would probably be updating you on:
1) Continue playing notpr0n
2) Win Wikifun
3) Read at least three more books
4) Finish up Intense City
5) 100word - this is tentative, I'm not sure what kind of rubbish I'll produce in the holidays. Oh well.
